On page SEO
On page SEO are the things you can do on the website to get higher results in the search engines. How you should do this:
Main Title. The title of each post and page should consist of a H1 tag. It is seldom you need to worry about this because WordPress templates automatically ensure that the post or page title will be a H1. Google likes H1 when their search engine crawls through your site, but you should on use a H1 tag once per page.
Headlines. The main headings in the text should be in H2 even if you use a relatively large number of main headings.
Sub-headings. If you have several sub-headings these should be h3 tagged.
Permalinks. Your permalink should be structured like this: www.domain.com/bobs-brewery. Make sure you include your main keyword in the inner URL (bobs-brewery)
Installing critical SEO plugins. Get an XML Sitemap that simplifies the search engine indexing of your website and a great SEO plugin such as All in One SEO Pack and SEO Ultimate.
These great plugins make it easier for you to search engine optimize your website.
Meta descriptions. A meta description is the description of what your website and your various posts about it. This description appears in the search results on Google, it should be selling and create interest in your website. If you have a SEO plugin, you can add to this description directly below the post.
Linking between pages. Off Page SEO is all about linking, but also about the links between your posts and pages within the same site (sensibly), you can rank higher in the search engines. It is usually good to link from the homepage to the site's subpages.
Good content. The texts should be fairly well written, include relevant information and contain useful information along with your main keywords.
Update often. The more often the site is updated with good content the better ranking your site will achieve. Especially with small company SEO.
